The Shri Yantra Temple, also known as Vishwakalyan Sadhanayatan, is a very special place located by the sacred Ganga River. It is known as one of the most respected Shakti Upasana Kendras in Haridwar, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking spirituality. Unlike many other temples in Haridwar, the Shri Yantra Temple has a unique, traditional dome. Its outer walls and boundaries are decorated with star designs, offering a wonderful setting for Darshan, a chance to explore Hindu culture more deeply, or simply a peaceful place to spend time.
About the Shri Yantra Temple
The Shri Yantra Temple in Haridwar functions as a Shakti Upasana Kendra. Upasana is a very important part of a spiritual seeker's journey. The word "Upasana" means to sit before your beloved deity and to fully immerse yourself in their virtues, thoughts, and actions. Similarly, Shakti Upasana involves integrating the qualities of divine beings into our everyday lives. This philosophy guides how the Shri Yantra Temple operates in Haridwar. The temple also offers ashram facilities, including meals and other important services, providing a complete experience that goes beyond just offering a way to connect with the divine.
History of the Temple
Founded in 1991 by Nirvana Pithadhishvar Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Swami Shri Vishwadevanand Ji, the temple is more than just a place to visit for Darshan and puja. It warmly welcomes people who are interested in faith and spiritual practices. The ashram, which provides accommodation, serves everyone looking to participate in various spiritual practices, meditation, selfless service, and to discover their true selves. Guests at the ashram are encouraged to take part in a variety of spiritual, cultural, and educational activities.
The temple and ashram are also well-known for their healthy, sattvic meals, prepared according to Ayurvedic principles. During major festivals like Shivratri, Navratri, and Janmashtami, the temple becomes a lively place, attracting visitors from both India and abroad who are seeking enlightenment. Simply spending time within the temple grounds offers a profoundly relaxing and calming experience for everyone.
The Architecture
The Shri Yantra Temple complex includes a main temple for meditation and prayer. However, it is much more than just a temple. It also has an ashram for accommodation, a Ghat for puja rituals and quiet moments by the life-giving Ganga River, as well as a dedicated yoga-meditation hall and a well-stocked library.

The temple is built in the traditional Hindu architectural style and has a humble yet immense power. The spacious meditation and yoga halls are designed according to Patanjali's teachings. For the most enriching experience, visiting during a special event or festival is highly recommended. The private bathing facilities are a delightful addition, allowing guests and visitors to take a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Ganga.
Temple Timing
The temple is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm.
Best Time to Visit Temple
Haridwar has pleasant weather all year, making the Shri Yantra Temple a welcoming destination anytime. However, if you want to explore Haridwar more thoroughly, the autumn to winter season, from October to March, is ideal. During this period, although nights and early mornings can be cool and a bit chilly, the weather is wonderfully comfortable for going out and discovering other temples in the area.
Summer lasts from April to July. This is when temperatures rise significantly, and the heat, especially in the afternoon, can make outdoor activities difficult, as Haridwar is located on plains near the Himalayas. While it cools down after sunset and in the early mornings, moving around the city during the day can be uncomfortable.
It's advisable to avoid traveling to the hills during the monsoon months of July to September, as the region is prone to landslides and road closures.
How to Reach Haridwar
